OneStart Biotech Competition Finalists

Congratulations to Nawar Al Zebari and Ismael Moreno-Gomez who have, in their spare time, set up an independent business project which has reached the finals of the world's largest life sciences start-up accelerator programme.

The competition, OneStart, is organised by Oxbridge Biotech Roundtable (OBR) and SR One. The winner will receive £100k for the business idea and free lab space at Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst. UroLogic founded by Nawar Al-Zebari (PhD student at CCMM), Ismael Moreno-Gomez (PhD student at CCMM) and Igor Romanov (PhD student at Cavendish Laboratory) are currently in the top 10 finalists from more than 350 contestants that applied this year. Their proposal to create urinary catheters from smart materials in order to reduce infection rates has sparked many interests among the judging panellists and investors. The final winner will be announced on 14 May 2015 in London.
