Biography:

Jamie Cyr completed her undergraduate degree in mathematics at Smith College in the United States. During her studies she minored in chemistry and specialized in biomathematics and medical modeling. Jamie supplemented her studies with a range of research involvement from cancer modeling at Oxford University to T-cell differentiation from hESCs at UCLA. Upon her graduation in 2016 Jamie joined the Cambridge Center for Medical Materials group and combined her mathematical background with her medical interests. She focuses on manipulating the underlying physics of ice-templating with the aim of increasing control over the process to produce collagen scaffolds with complex architectures for regenerative medical applications. Such understandings and manipulations allow for scaffold use in tissues with ordered extracellular matrices such as tendon, skeletal muscle or the select vital organs. Jamie's work specifically focuses on engineering scaffolds that mimic the spiralling pattern of the heart to be employed in a cardiac patch to treat Myocardial infarction.
